Gluten Free Brownies

Spread the love

OK let’s just be real here, these gluten free brownies are the best you will ever have! No weird aftertaste and perfect brownie texture!

Gluten free brownies are my new favorite obsession. They are chocolaty, gooey, and super fudgy. It’s just like a regular brownie.

The secret to these gluten free brownies is we don’t have to use a chalky gluten free flour substitute to make them. With the use of oat flour the brownies stay moist, delicious and have great texture.

Topped with a delicious and healthier version of frosting; these gf brownies will be a huge hit for your gluten free friends. And you don’t have to eat gluten free to enjoy them either! Sometimes I enjoy these more than regular brownies.

Serve these delicious brownies with ice cream or just eat on their own!

So let’s get cooking and make these delicious brownies.

What Makes These Different Than Other GF Brownies:

Here is what makes these brownies different from other gluten free brownies.

Most gluten free brownies use a gf flour like Bob’s Red Mill or a Cup For Cup flour blend. Although I do find these to be the best gluten free flours around; I just don’t feel like they make good gluten free brownies.

Instead of a gluten free flour blend we will be using oat flour for this recipe. Which has amazing texture and no undesired aftertaste.

Another difference is we use melted chocolate chips instead of traditional cocoa powder. We do this to add sweetness and for a fudgy texture. Just a quick note- always buy gluten free chocolate chips as some can be manufactured on equipment that manufactures gluten products.

We will also be using brown sugar for this recipe instead of the typical granulated sugar. This also helps to yield a more fudgy consistency when you bake the brownie batter.

Lastly the fat we use makes these brownies different than traditional brownies. We use a coconut oil rather than melted butter. In my opinion this helps to give a moist texture. Although you can substitute melted butter in this recipe if needed.

Ingredients For Gluten Free Brownies:

Here are the ingredients you will need to make these gluten free brownies.

Frosting Ingredients:

The frosting is optional, but adds a delicious sweetness to the brownies. I highly recommend making it!

How to Make Gluten Free Brownies:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray an 8×8 pan with cooking spray.
  2. Microwave 1 cup chocolate chips and coconut oil in a glass bowl for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue to microwave in 30 second increments until melted.
  3. Stir in yogurt, vanilla, salt, baking soda, and brown sugar.
  4. Add the oat flour and stir to combine. Stir in remaining ½ cup chocolate chips and then pour the batter into a greased baking pan (I like to use a 9×9 square baking dish if possible.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes. When the brownies are done, remove from the oven and make the frosting.

How To Make the Frosting:

  1. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl with the coconut or almond milk for 30 seconds or until melted. Stir in Greek yogurt and powdered sugar.
  2. When brownies have cooled slightly, spread the frosting over the brownies (it will be a little runny). Dust with powdered sugar.
