Tips for cooking Brussels sprouts:
- Cut the bottom off of the sprout and cut in half to increase the surface area that can become crispy.
- You can even peel off some of the leaves, which will become almost chip-like when roasted or air fried.
- Do not boil Brussels sprouts. Try other methods of cooking that include a high and direct heat like roasting or air frying.
- Brussels sprouts can be a little bitter, so add some sweetness, saltiness, or acidity to counterbalance that bitterness. Adding things such as honey, bacon, or balsamic vinegar work great.
- Season the sprouts! It may sound silly, but adequately seasoning the Brussels sprouts with kosher salt and pepper make a huge difference.
- Toss the sprouts in an oil before cooking, which will create caramelization during the cooking process. Be sure to not drench them in oil or they can become soggy.
How long to cook Brussels sprouts in air fryer:
Brussels sprouts only take about 10 minutes to cook in the air fryer. Make sure to shake the basket half-way through the cooking process to ensure even cooking.
You want to be careful to only fill the basket half-way so that the air can circulate and the sprouts can cook evenly.
I would recommend cooking in batches if you want to cook for a crowd. After you cook a batch, keep them warm in a 275°F oven on a cookie sheet.
