The Best Thanksgiving Turkey

Spread the love

Do you want to find the best Thanksgiving turkey recipe for your Thanksgiving dinner?  Here are four different flavor Thanksgiving turkey recipes that will wow your guests and your taste buds.

Here are my best tips to make the best Thanksgiving turkey this year!

Tip Number 1:

Brine your turkey.  I could write a whole post on this, but here is a great post that explains brining really well along with a great recipe.  If you really don’t want to fuss with brining your turkey yourself you can now buy already brined turkeys in your grocery store.  There are two types of brining, a wet brine and a dry brine.  Here is a great dry brine recipe.

Tip Number 2:

SALT!!!! Salt is the number one thing that will enhance the flavor of your turkey.  Nothing is worse than a turkey without salt.  I promise when you add salt, and a lot of it to your turkey, it will be flavorful! I like to use kosher salt because the granulars are flat and coarse and adds an extra salty flavor without additional additives.

Tip Number 3:

Use a compound butter. The great thing about compound butters is it’s a component of the dinner that you can prep way in advance!  I mean even a month in advance!

What is a compound butter? A compound butter is simply a mixture of flavorful ingredients mixed with butter.  Flavorful ingredients can include citrus zest, herbs, spices, acidity (from red wine, soy sauce, vinegar etc) or even some potent cheeses.

How long does compound butter last? I make large batched of different compound butter, wrap them in saran wrap and then pop them in the freezer for up to 6 months.  Storing the butter this way allows you to grab the quantity of butter you will need without having to use the whole thing.

Tip Number 4:

Cook for the appropriate time.  Check out this Turkey cook-time guideline sheet below. Nothing is worse than a dry turkey or an undercooked turkey!

Tip Number 5:

Make a delicious gravy to complement the meat.

Tip Number 6:

Have a plan and enjoy!
