Ingredients for Hoisin Chicken:
Here are the basic ingredients for these chicken bowls. Feel free to use the substitutions listed.
Chicken: Use boneless and skinless chicken breasts. You want to cut the chicken into about 1 inch cubes so that it will cook quickly. You can also use boneless and skinless chicken thighs.
Lemongrass Hoisin Sauce: This sauce can be bought at most grocery stores. If you can’t find it you can substitute with half hoisin sauce and half sweet chili sauce. You can also grab a gluten free hoisin for a gluten free version.
Braggs Liquid Aminos: I love this gluten free version of soy sauce. You can also use soy sauce if you have that on hand.
Honey: Use a good quality honey.
Garlic: You can use frozen minced garlic or fresh minced garlic.
Rice: I like to use white rice because it cooks quicker but you can also use brown rice.
Broccoli: I like to add some extra nutrients by adding broccoli but you can add any vegetables of your choice. Bell peppers or carrots work great too.
How To Make Hoisin Chicken Bowls:
First start by rinsing and cooking your rice. Rinsing the rice will remove some of the starch and will help the rice not be gummy.
Next preheat a pan over medium high heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil or sesame oil and sear your chicken until golden.
Make the sauce by combining all the ingredients into a small bowl and mix to combine. It is ok if the sauce is not fully combined. The honey will dissolve when you add it to the hot chicken.
When the chicken is almost cooked through add the sauce to the pan. Mix one tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water to create a slurry. Add the slurry to the pan and cook until the sauce is thickened and the chicken is cooked through.
Cook your broccoli in the air fryer until crispy about 5 minutes and then assemble the rice bowls with a layer of cooked rice, chicken and sauce and broccoli.
In just 30 minutes or less, you can savor the elegance and bold flavors of Hoisin Chicken Bowls.
Whether enjoyed as a quick weeknight dinner or a flavorful lunch, these bowls effortlessly elevate your dining experience, proving that a delicious, restaurant-quality meal can be achieved in the comfort of your own kitchen.
With Hoisin Chicken Bowls, simplicity meets sophistication, creating a culinary masterpiece that’s sure to become a staple in your repertoire.
