The Magic of Browned Butter:

Before we dive into the recipe, let’s talk about what makes browned butter so special.

Browning butter involves heating it until the water content evaporates, and the milk solids turn golden brown.

This process intensifies the butter’s nutty aroma and imparts a rich, caramel-like flavor. It’s this unique taste that takes sugar cookies from ordinary to extraordinary.

You want to make sure you do not burn the butter. Cook the butter on medium low heat until the foam on the top starts to turn a golden brown color and you can smell a nutty smell.

Ingredients For Browned Butter Sugar Cookies:

To create your batch of delectable browned butter sugar cookies, you’ll need the following ingredients:

Butter: You want to use a really good quality butter. I use the Kerrygold salted butter. Or you can also use an unsalted butter.

Brown Sugar: We increased the quantity of brown sugar to granulated sugar for a richer, deeper flavor.

Granulated Sugar: Regular granulated sugar.

Eggs: Use room temperature eggs.

Vanilla Bean Paste: You can also use vanilla extract if you don’t have vanilla bean paste on hand. But if you can use vanilla bean paste it really adds a delicious vanilla flavor.

Baking Soda: Used for leavening.

Baking Powder: Used for leavening.

Salt: Use kosher salt or real salt.

All Purpose Flour: I like to use unbleached all purpose flour.
