Sloppy Joe Sliders are one of my families favorite dinner. Not to mention it’s one of mine! This recipe is quick to make and also an inexpensive budget friendly family dinner.

These miniature sloppy Joe sliders take the classic Sloppy Joe concept and transform it into a convenient, bite-sized package.

Make these sliders for and easy weeknight dinner or make them for an appetizer for game day.

No matter what the occasion these sliders are so full of flavor and easy to make.

What Is A Sloppy Joe:

The Sloppy Joe sandwich has a storied history, with multiple claims to its origin.

One popular narrative traces its roots to a 1930s café in Key West, Florida, while another suggests that it originated in Iowa.

Regardless of its precise origin, Sloppy Joes have become a beloved American classic, often associated with comfort, nostalgia, and a satisfying messiness.

Let’s dive into how to make these sliders.

Sloppy Joe Sliders Ingredients:

This recipe only utilizes a couple of ingredients. Most of which you probably already have on hand. Here is what you need along with any substitutes.

Pretzel Slider Rolls: I love to use Kings Hawaiian pretzel roll sliders. You can also use Hawaiian rolls or dinner rolls.

Onion: You can use any onion you would like.

Garlic: I utilize the frozen minced garlic for convenience.

Lean Ground Beef: You can also use ground turkey for a healthier “sloppy Jane” version.

Worcestershire Sauce: This adds a delicious flavor to the dish and a depth of flavor.

Mustard: I use yellow mustard but you can also use dijon mustard for a spicier kick.

Ketchup: I like to use an organic ketchup.

Salt and Pepper: Use to taste.

Cheddar Cheese: Use shredded cheddar. I like to shred the cheese myself to make it melt better.

How To Make Sloppy Joe Sliders:

Here are the quick steps to make this easy dinner under 15 minutes.

First preheat the skillet over medium high heat and sauté the diced onion and garlic in some olive oil or butter.

Then add the ground beef and sauté until brown and fully cooked. Break up the meat with a wooden spoon as it cooks.

Next make the sauce by combining the worcestersire sauce, mustard and ketchup and stir to combine. Add the sloppy Joe sauce to the pan.

Season the meat mixture with salt and pepper to taste.

Toast the pretzel buns under the broiler until they are golden brown.

Top the buns with the sloppy joe meat and top with cheddar cheese.

Serve immediately.

Creative Toppings:

Sloppy Joe sliders invite creativity when it comes to toppings. I tend to keep it simple for the kids, but feel free to get creative and use different toppings.

Classic choices include shredded cheddar cheese, diced onions, and dill pickles, but the possibilities are endless.

Avocado slices, coleslaw, fried onions, or even a fried egg can elevate the sliders, adding layers of flavor and texture

Meal Prep:

Meal prep this meal by making the meat ahead of time. You can place the meat into individual prep dishes. Then package your rolls and cheese separately.

You can also serve this sloppy Joe meat mixture on top of lettuce or for a gluten free option serve on top of crispy potatoes or tater tots.

Freezer Meal:

I love to make double of the meat mixture and freeze half in a freezer safe dish.

Thaw the meat mixture in the fridge the night before and reheat on the stovetop.
